Corcoran brace gives his Cinder Lane team victory over Southall

PHIL Corcoran scored both his Cinder Lane team's goals against visiting Southall on Saturday to take Fairford Town up to eighth position in the Hellenic Premier Division with a 2-1 win.

Corcoran struck in the 23rd and 25th minutes while Keane replied for high-riding Southall on the hour.

"We've still got all the top teams to play, including North Leigh and Brackley twice each and Didcot and Slimbridge," said Fairford manager Mark Webb.

However, Corcoran's goal scoring success - seven in six games - has not gone unnoticed as North Leigh have put in seven days' notice of approach for him.

This Saturday, Fairford travel to take on a mid-table Hook Norton, 3pm. Next Wednesday (February 4), Fairford are set to visit Gloucester United with an eye on a final berth in the Norman Matthews Floodlit Cup.

Holding a 2-1 lead from the first leg, Fairford will hope to clinch the second leg to meet either Slimbridge or Bishops Cleeve in the final itself.
