CRICKLADE RFC started with a cold north wind in their faces in Saturday's home friendly against Malmesbury.
But they soon had points on the board when Simon Howse touched down. Cricklade ace- kicker Danny Lloyd converted.
The home side were soon threatening the Malmesbury line again and Lloyd kicked his second from two after Liam Dunford went over. Half-time arrived with the lead at 14-0.
Malmesbury showed lots of spirit throughout and tried their hardest to get some points on the board, but the home defence thwarted them time and again.
As the visitors pressed for a score against the Wilts & Dorset Two North League leaders, openings started to appear. Prop Jason Johnson took advantage of one to force his way over for the third try which Lloyd narrowly failed to convert.
Further tries for Cricklade came from Matthew Henshaw, Nigel Goodgame and captain Steve Baldwin, keeping the score moving.
Lloyd regained his composure to convert them all, including a very tight one from the left touchline, as Cricklade ran out 40-0 winners.
