FOLLOWING a successful meeting at BSPA headquarters, Swindon speedway promoter Alun Rossiter was pleased to confirm that the Team Artdeans Sprockets will compete in an extended Conference League of 14 teams in 2004.
Apart from Swindon, the league will be made up by Boston, Buxton, Carmarthen, Mildenhall, Newcastle, Newport, Oxford, Rye House and Wimbledon, all of whom participated last year, while joining them in the new look set-up are Armadale, Plymouth, Stoke and Weymouth.
The Swindon boss commented: "We decided to go for the one big league only, rather than entering the side in the Conference Trophy as well, as some riders have full-time jobs and myself and team boss Martin Satchell agreed that we wanted to track the best possible line-up on all occasions.
"Obviously, to keep expenses to a minimum for the youngsters we will try and incorporate the away matches and Armadale and Newcastle in one trip.
"With regard to home fixtures, some of the Team Artdeans Sprockets matches will be held on Thursdays when the Robins aren't running due to the Grand Prix, but it is possible that some meetings will be held on either a Tuesday or a Sunday.
"One or two of the home matches may even clash with when the Pebley Beach Robins are on the road, so it is good to know I will be able leave everything in the capable hands of Martin.
"It is going to be a busy season, and having Martin on board will really help in taking the pressure off my promotional duties, as well as being team boss of the Robins."
Admission prices for the Conference League matches have been set at: adults £7, OAP/concessions £3, and children £1.
