THE Drillmans Arms Golf Society season for 2003 closed last week with a post-Christmas friendly competition at Cirencester Golf Club.
Using local knowledge, John Lovett compiled an impressive 40 stableford points to collect his new year expenses.
For the final week in December, the course was in exceptionally good condition.
The last formal competition of the year was also held at Cirencester GC a few weeks ago, followed by the Society's AGM.
In the competition, Ron Reynolds took the honours and was closely followed by Andrew Tibbles fresh from his courageous charity parachute jump.
Les Worley achieved the longest drive while Adrian Stanford won the nearest-the-pin competition.
Members of the Society moved on to the Drillmans Arms for its annual meeting and to review a successful year.
Steve Bishop was appointed as the new captain for 2004. After the formalities, £60 was raised for Dick Selby's Cirencester Hospital scanner appeal.
The Society, which is based at the Drillmans Arms in Stratton, meets on the last Friday of every month.
New members are most welcome and should appreciate a social rather than a too serious round of golf in good humoured and friendly company. All enquiries please to Andy Tibbles on 01285 650243.
