JOHN Brambly-Davenport is bringing his acclaimed performance of his own adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol to St Mary's Church, Bibber on Saturday, December 6.
The concert begins at 7.30pm but David Taylor will play Christmas music from 7pm.
The performance will be candlelit and ticket prices include mulled wine and hot mincepies in the interval. The performance is in aid of Bibury Village Hall.
John Bromley-Davenport, who trained at the London Academy of Music and Drama, originally adapted A Christmas Carol in 1983 and since then he has performed it regularly both in Britain and America.
Charles Dickens conceived the idea for A Christmas Carol during a visit to Manchester in October 1843.
The book was finished and published in time for Christmas that year and was an immediate success.
In December 1853 Dickens gave a public reading of A Christmas Carol in Birmingham and its success led him to give over 500 performances of his works.
