Cantores choir come to Cirencester

CANTORES chamber choir, whose members come from all over Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, will be singing at Watermoor Church, Cirencester on Saturday, November 29 at 7.30pm in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief.

The concert, entitled Tell me the Truth in Love, will be conducted by musical director Chris Davey with readings by David Barlow.

On Friday, December 12, also at 7.30pm, Cantores will join forces with Cirencester Silver Band for Christmas Cracker, the ever popular seasonal concert in aid of the Cirencester Opportunity Group.

Choir members come from a variety of musical backgrounds and aim to sing a broad spectrum of material from early music to contemporary composers.

Under its musical director Chris Davey, Cantores has commissioned works by local composer Stephen Bateman and its repertoire also includes music by Gloucestershire composer Michael Gryspeerdt and Bob Chilcott who recently ran a choral day in Cirencester.

Chris also aims to keep young people singing through staying in touch with cultural changes and through his teaching the choir has flourished.

The choir has sung in aid of local and national charities such as Save the Children, Macmillan, Down Ampney and Toddington Churches and Cirencester Early Music Festival.

Anyone wanting to book them to sing should contact David Bryant on 01793 812687.
