Luke earns the plaudits for his play on the polo field

WESTONBIRT-based polo player Luke Tomlinson, whose parents, Simon and Claire, run the Beaufort Polo Club, has had his most successful season so far.

He was voted most valuable player of the match when the Buzzee Bees won the coveted Prince of Wales Trophy against the favourites FCT, and played for Hildon Sport, the winners of the Veuve Cliquet Gold Cup at the British Open Championships at Cowdray Park.

Hildon Sport also included the tournament's first female winner, Nina Vestey, from Foxcote Manor, near Andoversford.

The team met Labegorce in a very close final and won by a single goal.

Luke also played for the England team, together with Henry Brett, Will Lucas and Andrew Hine, who beat Mexico in front of 25,000 spectators at the Guards Club.

He has been sponsored this season by Mitsubishi Motors of Cirencester who have announced that they will be sponsoring him again in 2004.
