Away to Easington Sports on Saturday, Purton dropped two more points in Hellenic Division One West when their forwards let them down in a game they should have won comfortably on the day.
Although the hosts fielded a much better side than in previous seasons, Purton will be kicking themselves for not making more of the opportunities they created.
Despite the Easington keeper making some fine saves, the Red House team still failed in front of goal after good build-up play had carved out excellent chances.
Although Easington missed a penalty kick after 35 minutes, Purton could so easily have been 2-0 up early on.
It took 70 minutes for Purton to break the deadlock, skipper Martin Thompson heading home after Kenny Hughes had nodded down the ball at the far post.
Following a free kick ten minutes before the end, Easington levelled the match when Greg Shawyer headed past Mark Ayres, in for the injured Luke Alford, in the Purton goal.
After that, Purton had three more clear chances to take all three points but, as earlier in the game, failed to convert any of them in a 1-1 draw.
Although Purton regulars Luke Alford, Steve Avenell and Martin Crossman were all unavailable, the Wiltshire team should still have added three more points to their league total.
