Captain Scott has an FA Cup date at Sheffield Wednesday

SCOTT Bartlett is set for the biggest game of his football career to date when his Dr Martens League Eastern Division Salisbury City side take on the might of Football League's Division Two Sheffield Wednesday in the first round proper of the FA Cup.

Scott, 24, who is employed by the Standard as a field sales executive, admits to being nervous about the big match.

He said, "As captain of Salisbury, I shall be leading out the team in front of a crowd in the region of 20,000 spectators and that's an awesome prospect.

"After we defeated Lymington in Saturday's fourth round qualifier, it's quite exciting to find yourself drawn against a team such as Sheffield Wednesday.

"To be honest, after our victory, the first thing I wanted to find out was how Cirencester Town had done.

"Having played for them a while back, I was hoping that they, too, would be in the first round proper like us. I was disappointment to see they had been beaten, and really feel for the club."

Having earned a tremendous 4-3 away win over Dr Martens Premier League's Havant & Waterlooville in the third qualifying round, last Saturday's home tie against Lymington from the Wessex League looked a far easier prospect for Salisbury.

But when the visitors scored in the very first minute, City realised they would have to treat their rivals with far more respect.

In the end, City rattled in five goals into the Lymington net with their keeper scoring from the spot three minutes before the end in a 5-1 win.

There is a chance that the Sheffield Wednesday versus Salisbury City FA Cup game, which is on Sunday, November 9 (2pm ko), will be shown live on Sky.
