Uncle Arly to provide the laughs

INSTEAD of The Man Next Door, billed as the opening production of the Sundial Theatre's autumn season, Hoipolloi Theatre Company presents My Uncle Arly, on Tuesday, September 30, instead.

My Uncle Arly is described as an upside-down comedy for adults, children and those in-between.

Inspired by the illustrations, life and nonsense poems of Edward Lear, author of The Owl and the Pussycat, the play takes families on a funny, yet poetic journey into Lear's world of make belief.

In the sparkling tradition of Monty Python, Spike Milligan and The Magic Roundabout, My Uncle Arly travels beyond the bounds of reason and revels in total absurdity with clowning, slapstick, puppetry, music, songs and the unique poetry of Edward Lear.

An exuberant and colourful theatrical experience, My Uncle Arly draws on Hoipolloi's riotous comedy and Tiebreak's accessible and original music theatre for children.

This production has been specially created for children from seven to 70 to enjoy an evening in the marvellous world of one of literature's larger than life characters.

Tickets from the box office on 01285 654228. The performance begins at 8pm.
