Victory for Purton FC is far from convincing

PURTON FC collected three more Hellenic League points on home territory last Saturday when defeating bottom-of-the-table Adderbury Park by two goals to nil.

However, the Red House team will have gained little satisfaction from this result as they squandered a hatful of chances in one of the worst displays I have witnessed in recent times, writes Alan Eastwood.

They seemed to have so much time and space throughout the game, but still failed to impress.

To be fair, the Park keeper did make some good saves but, frankly, Purton should have buried their visitors and a goal in each half was all they could muster.

Ritchie Saunders gave the hosts the lead after 43 minutes, driving the ball in from 12 yards.

And Lee Curtis headed in a second from a Toby Clark cross after 72 minutes to secure the outcome.

This Saturday, Purton are set to entertain sixth-placed Ardley United.
