Top prize goes to young angler with his 'catch of the day'

THE Abbey Lake Junior Open in Cirencester enticed 15 budding young anglers who competed for some excellent fishing tackle prizes.

Top junior on the day was nine-year-old Abbey Lake Junior member Martin Bartlett.

He weighed in with an excellent 8lb 11oz, made up of roach and bream and a Shimano Technum medium feeder rod was Martin's prize.

In second position came Troy Weaver, of Peatmoor Angling Club, with 4lb 15oz and in third place was Daniel Cole with 2lb 9oz. These two also received Feeder rods as their prizes.

All juniors who fished received prizes, courtesy of Jeremy at Masterline and Dave Savage of D & J Sports Cirencester.

Abbey Lake AC extends their appreciation to both of them, and also to the family of the late Swindon angler Martin Scott, whose entire fishing tackle was donated to the club by his family and formed the bulk of the prizes.
