NITROJET Action Sports from Cirencester were well represented at the fourth round of the British Jet Sports Racing Championships with an array of local riders competing in all classes.
However, this recent event, held at Liverpool's Albert dock, is said not to be a favourite venue for many of the riders.
For the water itself is only about a quarter of the size of the lakes that are normally used for the championships and, with ten-foot high concrete walls, it leaves no room for errors - as several soon discovered in this recently run event.
The main problem is that at 60mph and with only yards between the jetski's and the dock wall, it takes only a split-second lapse in concentration for disaster to loom.
Yes, the dock wall is most unforgiving!
Out first for the Cirencester contingent in the Junior Ski Division was Luke Brookes who had a fantastic start to the season.
And Luke continued it in this round by finishing first for the day and still leading overall for the year.
Next up was Novice stock runabout where Nitrojet had two racers out. This hotly contested class had to be split into an A and a B finals for safety reasons, with both local riders making it through to the A final.
Best overall performance came from young Perry Field who finished second on the day and now leads his class overall.
Unfortunately, Will Young, fifth on the day and fifth overall, have a good first run, but got a disastrous start to the second and couldn't make up the places in the confines of the dock.
And finally it was the turn of the big boys, the main event open runabout and superstock with Nitrojet represented by veteran rider Dave Jackson, who suffered electrical gremlins all day.
With his Seadoo XPL jetski suffering a total electrical failure, he spent the rest of the day racing on whatever jetski he could persuade people to loan him.
Finishing seventh in Open Limited and eighth in Superstock class, Dave is hoping to finally solve these problems before the next round at Stockton-on-Tees.
For the Championship then reaches a climax and the silverware becomes ever closer for all of the Cirencester's Nitrojet race team.
