MALMESBURY Junior Badminton Club is facing an uncertain future as its long-time leader and coach, Mary Wood, has moved out of the area to Bath.
The club has been running for over 20 years and it is thought that the first junior section of the club was started in the 1960s.
Members are set to start a new season in the Activity Zone, at Malmesbury Leisure Centre, in Bremilham Road this Saturday, September 6, at 4pm.
If there are any badminton player/coaches who would like to be involved in a thriving junior club, they are invited along to this first session or contact Mary Wood on 01225 469663.
The club has been very successful in the local Swindon and District Youth League for the past few years and has also been represented at county level for some 15 years.
The club, which runs every Saturday from 4-6pm, is open to girls and boys between the ages of 9-16 years.
Shuttles are provided and there are club rackets available to use if required.
The club runs one team in the Swindon and District Badminton Youth League which came second in the league last year, winning 12 out of 14 matches.
The club will continue to run its Tuesday sessions at 7pm as a team practice before the Centre's Come and Play sessions from 8-10pm, open to anyone over 16 interested in playing badminton.
For more information, please contact Mary Wood.
