LOCAL Renault Clio Cup competitor Rob Cullum achieved his best set of results so far on his second visit of the season to the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk.
For in the 13th and 14th rounds, the Coln St Aldwyns driver got a seventh place in the first race and followed it up with a sixth in the second in this event held on August 9.
It was his highest-place finish to date in this top series for up-and-coming young drivers.
The visit earlier in the year had been as part of the British GT/F3 series, but on this occasion it was to join the TOCA Tour, which includes the British Touring Car Championship.
Testing went well with Rob finishing fifth in the final session of the day.
When Rob lined up for qualifying next morning, it didn't go as well as he'd hoped - but 12th overall meant a sixth-row start.
With a good start in the first race, Cullum initially made up places before he arrived at the Esses.
Here, the cars in fourth and fifth places spun, leaving him with no where to go and with no other option but to brake heavily and also suffer a spin.
Fortunately, no damage resulted from this incident and Rob proceeded to put in an excellent drive to move from 17th place to seventh by the end of the race.
In the second race, there was more carnage at the Esses, but this time Cullum had a clear run through and, at the end of the first lap, was in sixth spot.
And he resisted all the pressure from behind to enjoy his first top-six finish. Guests from local companies Acoustic Energy and Le Spa International were witness to Rob's success.
Anyone interested in the hospitality facilities should note that these can be arranged for race meetings. Please call Rob on 01285 750563 for further details.
