Local angling team runners-up in H & P Clubman

IN the H & P Clubman's four-a-side fished at Stanton and two sections at Raycham and Wootton Bassett lake, Team T were runners-up to winners Coleview Red by two points.

A good performance came from Chris Telling in winning at Wootton Bassett lake and Steve Broadhurst in winning at Raycham (1-10 pegs).

Team Stanton, Mick Telling (capt) 2lb 9oz (4pts); Raycham 1-10, Steve Broadhurst 7lb 3oz (8pts); Raycham 10-20, Arthur Hick 4lb 4oz (5pts); Wootton Bassett Lake, Chris Telling 10lb 14oz (8pts). Chris Telling won the individual overall on the day.

H & P Clubman teams of eight is on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Brimslade on Sunday, August 25. Draw is 8am, fish 9am-2pm.

The final leg of the John Telling Team challenge was fished at Wootton Bassett lake on a thundery and very hot day.

Occupying top spot was John Wright (BOR) with a carp of 9lb 5oz. Runner- up was Mick Telling (Team T) with 6lb 8oz of small fish, as was Chris Telling (Team T) 5lb 13oz.

Mick Telling, with three section wins, got 24 out 24 and so claims the individual title.

Chris Telling (Team T) had 22 out of 24 and Arthur Hicks 20 out of 24.

Team T not only won the team event with 23 out of 24, but also the title with 66 out of 72, which was a record. Individual results on the day: 1 J Wright (Best of the Rest) 9lb 5oz, 2 M Telling (Team T) 6lb 8oz, 3 C Telling (Team T) 5lb 13oz.

Team on the day: 1 Team T 23, joint 2 Best of the Best and Golden X 18, 4 WBAC 13; 5 SCAC Blue 12; 6 SCAC Red 11, 7 N S Yo 8, 8 Abbey Lake 5.

Individual overall: M Telling 24pts, C Telling 22, A Hicks 20. Team overall: Team T 66, Golden X 47.
