DIETERS looking for dishes to tempt the taste buds can get their fill without piling on the pounds at Cirencester's 1651 Restaurant.
Chef Martin Jack has devised a menu which features low-fat meals, created specially for people taking part in the Ten Ton Challenge.
Kerensa Waddington, assistant manager of The Fleece Hotel, which owns the restaurant, said: "We've already started serving the meals.
The menu is expected to change every one or two weeks depending on its popularity.
"There are two starters to choose from and two main meals, and we can also offer fruit salads or light deserts.
"One of the main meals this week is poached salmon with noodles and oriental vegetables."
Weight-watchers can try out the tantalising dishes at lunch time or in the evening.
The restaurant is located in the Market Place.
Organisers are appealing for more businesses to contribute to the campaign by making a donation or encouraging staff to collectively lose some weight, however little.
For every 1lb lost at least £1 will go towards funds for an x-ray machine for Cirencester Hospital.
Telecommunications distributor Zycko, based in South Cerney, has sponsored £500.
Mark Crocker, marketing director of Zycko, said: "The challenge is for a good cause. We are all in and out of hospital regularly and Cirencester Hospital is one of the nicest hospitals in the country. We want it to stay that way."
He said the firm is also trying to encourage its 75-strong staff to undertake the challenge.
"We are quite a young bunch of people and a few of them could do with losing a few pounds," Mr Crocker added.
Other corporate sponsors include St James's Place in Cirencester and Le Spa.
The Ten Ton Challenge was launched a month ago and so far participants have pledged to shed a total of 595lbs.
Cirencester League of Friends patron, Lady Sarah Apsley, has been spreading the word to get more people on board.
She recently handed out 500 leaflets outside Waitrose in the town, and she has sent out 300 letters to contacts.
The challenge is open to anybody. To find out how to register visit the website or contact the main organisers Re/Max Property in Castle Street, Cirencester.
