Lisa raises a glass to weight loss campaign

LUCKY Lisa Benjamin won a case of champagne last week in a Ten Ton Challenge prize draw.

But she is sticking to her strict weight watching vows before she pops the corks.

Lisa, 30, a project manager for an interior design company in Cirencester, said: "I've never won anything in my life. I thought someone was winding me up when I got a call.

"I can't have a lot to drink while I'm still dieting, but it's my birthday in August so I might open a bottle then."

Lisa, of Watermoor Road, Cirencester said she put on weight during and after pregnancy.

She said: "I've pledged to lose 39lbs while doing the challenge and I've already lost 17lbs.

"I eat lots of pasta, jacket potatoes and fish. I also drink a lot of water and when I go to the pub I just have a blackcurrant drink.

"I don't go to the gym, but I do a lot of walking and a few weights at home."

She said her friends and family had been really supportive and losing weight had really boosted her confidence.

The Ten Ton Challenge not only motivates people to lose weight, it also helps raise funds for Cirencester Hospital.

For every 1lb lost at least £1 in sponsorship money goes towards a £120,000 digital x-ray machine.

The weight target of ten tons equals a cash target of £22,400.

The campaign is being organised by Re/Max Property, in Castle Street, Cirencester, with the support of the Standard, CMC Media Ltd, Market Place, Cirencester, and Lady Apsley, Cirencester Hospital League of Friends patron.

Readers can join the campaign by accessing the Ten Ton Challenge website or by contacting the organisers.
