LECHLADE F1 stock car racing driver Michael Scriven took his first victory of his Formula One racing career when competing at Northampton International Raceway on the Sunday before last.
Scriven, who is only 18, qualified for the Grand Final event by taking a well deserved win in the consolation race after facing tough competition from Staffordshire-based driver, Carlos Perez.
When the green flag dropped, the number 12 car of the Lechlade driver soon made his way to the front to lead the race.
He was, though, closely followed by Perez who put the leader under great pressure.
Even so, a determined Scriven wasn't going to give his top place on the rostrum to anyone.
He managed to keep his head and drive an excellent race to take the win in front of the large crowd.
In the grand final, Michael claimed a gallant sixth place in a race which had all of Europe's top driver competing.
Also enjoying a competitive outing was Michael's brother, 20-year-old Neil, who managed a second place in his heat and a fourth spot in the grand final.
In a post-meeting comment, Michael Scriven said: "We had done a lot of testing prior to the meeting, and were very pleased with the way the car handled as well as winning in front of such a big crowd."
The brothers were again in action last weekend at Coventry where, disappointingly for them, it was only a brief appearance.
For both of them suffered damage in a race two incident which took them out for the remainder of the meeting.
