STUDENTS from the National Star Centre College in Cheltenham have spent the last few months Telling Tales to each other and have used some of the best loved stories as the basis of a magical new production.
Telling Tales appears at the Other Space studio at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham on Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14.
A group of students from the Star Centre has been working with Sue Colverd, the Everyman's artistic director, and ReachOut practitioners Jude Emmet, Fiona Ross and Kate Ordonez to create a new world using dance, drama, design and even video techniques.
The world of Telling Tales is rife with myths, legends and fairy tales. It's a land in which audiences will delve into their childhood fantasies and perhaps be reunited with a monster or two.
After performing at the Everyman, the seven Star Centre students will take the show on tour to primary schools in the county.
"One of our prime objectives is to educate people through the arts, regardless of their ability, age, race or means, and Telling Tales is a fantastic example of this.
The students gain the unique experience of performing in a professional theatre with a professional team.
And by taking the show out to primary schools we can hopefully change some children's perceptions of people with physical disabilities too," said Camille Freeman, education officer for ReachOut, the Everyman's community and education department.
Tickets from the box office on 01242 572573.
