Ballads, jigs and reels with Last Night's Fun

IF you think you're not into folk music, a night with Last Night's Fun which comes to Brewery Arts on Friday, June 14 may make you change your mind.

Last Night's Fun audiences fall into two categories - those who haven't heard the band before and those who are devoted fans.

If this is your first time, then Folk on Tap magazine has some advice for you. "A box of tissues is an absolute essential when attending a Last Night's Fun gig.

When you're not using them to mop up the tears of laughter, you'll need them to wipe away the tears of jealousy at the sheer mastery of their respective instruments."

In between a dazzling array of ballads, jigs and reels, concertina maestro Chris Sherburn unleashes his Yorkshire wit that leaves the audience in stitches between every number.

Nick Scott, the butt of much of that humour, reveals the eeriest and most spine-shivering sounds ever heard from a set of uilleann pipes.

And Limerick-born Denny Bartley's soulful vocals and rhythmically fluid guitar playing are the driving force and backbone of the band.
