Entries flooding in for Bramham Horse Trials

BRAMHAM International Horse Trials is about to stage its 29th event which runs from Thursday to Sunday, June 5-8 and has a new title sponsor, Guardian Collections.

Entries have been flooding in and the competition includes riders from Australia, Belgium, Bermuda, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands (Antilles), Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the US, as well as the UK.

While US riders David and Karen O'Connor head the international entries, there is a very strong British challenge headed by Pippa Funnell, winner at both Badminton and Lexington this year already.

Pippa won at Bramham last year riding Walk On Star, this year she brings the talented Jurassic Rising.

William Fox-Pitt has entered four horses and will ride either Ballincoola or Cavalcade, with Stunning or Wallow as his second ride.

Also entered are Jeanette Brakewell, Leslie Law, Kristina Cook and Polly Stockton, who, together with Pippa and William, have been announced as the squad for the forthcoming European Championships in September.

The Elite Colleges Under 25 Championship entries include Kitty Boggis, Georgie Davies, Cressida Clague Reading and Matthew Wright, all members of the 2002 Young Rider European Silver Medal winning team.

Sue Benson has made several changes to the cross country course which will be as varied and challenging as always.

And for those who prefer to shop, there are over 100 trade stands selling an enormous variety of goods.
