Cirencester United FC held their end-of-season presentation evening at the Corinium Stadium last Friday.
After an excellent meal, first team manager Ivor Probert reflected on a season of contrasting fortunes.
After success in winning two local six-a-side competitions last summer, the season began with injuries to key players and results suffered accordingly up to Christmas.
But things picked up in the New Year, and any threat of relegation was avoided to ensure Hellenic football for another season.
Clive Messenger was given special mention for representing the Gloucestershire Senior team against the Royal Navy last November.
The Reserve team enjoyed a very successful season which saw them win the Reserve Division One league championship and the Reserve Section League Cup which included the Premier Reserve teams.
In fact, their only loss was in the Adrian Lees Cup where defeat was in a penalty shoot-out.
In his first season in charge, manager Les Davies thanked all his players for a memorable year.
He will pick up the Reserve Section top scorer award at next Friday's Hellenic League dinner.
Sid Simpson presented the Memorial Trophy to Les Davies for his all round contribution and enthusiasm during the season.
Chairman Paul King acknowledged the superb efforts of secretary Gordon Varley for the work he puts in on the daily running of the club and the strides he has made this year with regard to a new stadium.
Mat Keslake won the Chair-man's Cup for a superb season in goal for the Reserves, which he capped with an outstanding performance in the League Cup final.
Other award winners: 1st team players' player, Martin Richings; 1st team manager's player, Mark Warriner; Reserve team players' player, Adrian Smith; Reserve team manager's player, Paul Richings. The awards were sponsored by Mitsubishi Motors.
The club thanks Ivor and Ginny for organising an excellent evening and also Anna and her team at Corinium Stadium for first-class hospitality.
Cirencester United FC's annual meeting is at the Corinium Stadium on Wednesday, June 11. All players old and new are invited to attend.
