THE first leg of the John Telling team challenge, fished at Bourton-on-the-Water recently, was won by the only girl in the contest.
And it was Gemma Phillips, with 31lbs 8ozs of small carp from the trees on the meat, who proved victorious on the day.
Occupying the runners-up position was the Team T captain, Arthur Hicks,with 28lbs 1oz from the bottom bank.
And pushing him all the way was another Team T member, Mick Telling with 27lbs 8ozs (6 carp).
Fourth was Steve Reynolds with 26lbs 4ozs. Team T got off to a good start with 21pts out of 24pts.
Individuals on the day are as follows: 1 Gemma Phillips 31lbs 8ozs (Not So Young Ones), 2 Arthur Hicks 28lbs 1oz (Team T), 3 Mick Telling 27lbs 8ozs (Team T) and 4 Steve Reynolds 26lbs 4ozs (SCAC Red).
Teams on the day are as follows: 1 Team T 21pts, 2 SCAC Blue 18, 3 Best of the Rest 16, 4 SCAC Red 12 , 5 Golden Cross 11, 6 Not So Young Ones 10 and Bassett Allsorts 10, 8 Abbey Lake AC 9.
Sections: A Mick Telling (Team T), B Gemma Phillips (NSYO), C Bill Roe 20lbs 6ozs (SCAC Blue).
