WENDY Jones had a fine run in the recent Oxford Town and Gown 10k race, finishing second lady in a time of 36min 8sec.
This followed the Cirencester Athletics Club member's eighth place in the Midland 10k Championships at Chelmsley Wood, near Birmingham, where she represented Gloucestershire.
The Oxford race attracted over 2000 runners and there were further successes for Cirencester in the age categories with Dick Waldron second O60 male in a time of 45min 13sec and Elaine Wilson fourth O45 female in 45min 39sec.
Although the race was a round of the club's road race championship, there were only six club representatives, the other finishers being Chris Sherrington, Carol Clarke and David Edelsten.
There should be a much bigger turn out at the next round which is this Sunday's Fairford 10k, starting at 11am.
