DESPITE dry weather when setting out, members opted to race indoors for the fourth round of the Stroud Tool Hire Championship hosted by Cotswold Model Car Club at the Duke of Gloucester Barracks, South Cerney, last Saturday.
With grip level not particularly good, consistency was the name of the game on the day.
The three heats were sorted and run with the Electric Stock divided into two groups with John Ridding leading the way with some impressive lap times.
He was also the fastest runner in the Nitro group, setting a time four seconds slower than his times in Stock. The Open class was entertaining as usual with its varied mix of models.
The finals started with the Stock B final which was won by Richard Johnson 14 laps 5m1.39s from James Mudge nine laps 13.23s.
Stock A final was a demonstration drive from John Ridding clocking 19 laps 5m11.03s from Sam Tanner 18 laps 5m9.52.
Electric Modified final was clinched by Jason Marshall from Mitch Saunders while the Nitro final was won by John Ridding 19 laps 5m10.54s from Doug Tanner 17 laps 5m5.51s.
The Open class was won by Will Hatch who grabbed first place on the last lap from Jason Dodson.
With only two rounds to go, the current standings in the Stroud Tool Hire Championship are: Electric Stock 1 Andrew Mottram 71pts, 2 Sam Tanner 65pts; Electric Modified 1 Mitchell0 Saunders 81pts, 2 Brian Hook 59pts; Nitro 1 Doug Tanner 81pts, 2 Brian Hook 64pts.
Cotswold Model Car Club races most Saturday afternoons from 1.30pm and new members are welcome.
