Heaven Can Wait for Buddy

MOST rock music fans remember Wednesday, February 3, 1959, as the day that Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper rocked and rolled for the last time.

Heaven Can Wait, which comes to the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham, from Tuesday, May 27 to Saturday, May 31, is the smash hit rock and roll musical which tells the story of what happened to the superstars as they took their third - and final - steps to heaven.

Audiences will be transported back to the era of all those fabulous fifties sounds, possibly remembering where they were when they heard the news of the tragic plane crash which killed all three stars.

But what if, even as the headlines broke, Buddy, Richie and The Big Bopper found themselves on a very different plain?

The Celestial Bar is like nothing you'll find down here. It's somewhere between heaven and earth and it's where the three new arrivals find themselves.

When the rock 'n roll legends meet the mysterious Stella, their soda-mixing mentor, they decide that Heaven Can Wait. There's still some rocking and rolling to do.

Featuring all those favourite fifties songs which sould just as good today as they did back then, Heaven Can Wait includes toe- tapping, hand-clapping classics like Peggy Sue, La Bamba, C'mon Everybody, Your Cheating Heart, That'll Be The day and Oh Boy.
