For their show at Rodmarton village hall, on Saturday May 24 and Bank Holiday Monday May 26, Stroud Valleys Craftsmen have a prestigious guest exhibitor, a skilled craftsman who works in the Arts and Crafts style made famous by Gimson and Barnsley.
This is a rare opportunity to meet Christopher Vickers from Frome, who creates furniture, boxes and pictures with intricate contrasting inlays, and featuring copper or leather panels.
Designs are traditional and often based on originals by Gimson, Barnsley, Voysey and other Arts and Crafts designers, though he will design individual pieces to commission. His work is much sought after by collectors.
Newcomers Steve and Cathy Mulcock are exhibiting for the first time with examples of their woodturning and pyrography.
Rodmarton Manor and gardens are also open, giving an opportunity to see the last English manor house built using traditional methods, complete with Arts and Crafts furniture.
Other traditional craftsmen will be showing and selling their work at the exhibition, which also includes conservation crafts. The 2003 directory will also be available and the conservation video will be shown.
Light lunches and teas are available in the village hall, which is open from 12 noon to 5.30pm on both days with free admission.
