FOR the second time in the past four seasons, Sir William Romney's School in Tetbury have won the Glo'shire U19s County Cup.
In this recent contested tie, played at Forest Green Rovers FC, the Gloucester team started strongly and took the lead after five minutes when an unchallenged striker headed home from a free kick in the six-yard box.
As the first half progressed, SWR began to seize the initiative in midfield with Dan Price and Ricky Oakley showing up well.
Only a superb save by the Thomas Rich's keeper from a James Sherwood free kick prevented an equaliser.
However, just before the break, James Sherwood turned in the six-yard box and lashed home to put the Tetbury lads level at the break.
Spurred on by this success, Sir William Romney's took control of things early in the second half.
And a superb run from James Sherwood took him past three defenders before he calmly slotted home to put his side 2-1 up.
Although the Gloucester side tried to get back into the game, a combination of a strong back four, in which Tony Oakley and Luke Bedwell were superb, and resolute tackling in midfield restricted them to long range shots from outside the penalty area, none of which seriously troubled keeper Scott Williams.
The icing on the cake came ten minutes from time when an excellent passing move was finished in style by Nick Ash to make the final score 3-1 to Sir William Romney's.
