RECKONED to be one of the greatest correspondents of our time and, until recently, chief news correspondent at the BBC, Kate Adie has travelled the world by cattle truck and armoured car, and had close encounters with bullets and bombs while reporting from most of the world's danger zones, including the massacre at Tiananmen Square and wars in the middle east, the Balkans and Africa.
Despite being thought of as a tough and clinical reporter, her recent autobiography, The Kindness of Strangers, shows her strong sense of humour and real human touch, and that her life has been even more eventful than we can imagine.
On Monday, May 12 at the Wyvern Theatre, as part of the Swindon Festival of Literature, Kate talks about her work, her book and her adventures along the way with freelance reporter Erik Burnett-Godfree who also trained with the BBC.
The evening begins at 7.30pm.
Tickets from the box office on 01793 534481.
