JOYCE Grenfell is well known, loved and best remembered for her monologues, songs and comic writings.
She was an accomplished actress and starred in many well-known films, including the St Trinians series with George Cole, Alastair Sims and Frankie Howerd.
She also appeared regularly on radio, television and the stage and entertained troops during the war with her special brand of wit, charm and humour.
Her books include her autobiography, Joyce Grenfell Requests the Pleasure, George Don't Do That and her letters to Virginia Graham, her friend of 62 years. She has been impersonated most famously by Maureen Lipman.
On Wednesday, May 14 at 7pm Derek Grant presents new young talented comedienne Maria Gibbs in The Best of Joyce Grenfell at the Bacon Theatre at Dean Close School in Cheltenham.
Maria, whose experience ranges from performing in holiday centres, pantomime, and national theatre tours is astonishingly like Joyce.
She performs many of the well-known favourites such as A Terrible Worrier, The Old Girls' Reunion, Stately as a Galleon and many more including the hilarious Nursery School (George....Don't do that!) Tickets from the box office on 01242 258002.
