Evening of love songs at Cirencester's Sundial Theatre

ACCOMPANIED by Robert Dean and with a guest appearance by Benedict Nelson, Cirencester-based international mezzo soprano Maria Jagusz will present an evening of love songs throughout the ages at Cirencester's Sundial Theatre on Sunday, February 2 at 7.30pm.

Under the subtitles Attraction, Infatuation, Seduction, Disdain, Wedding Bells, Loss and On A Lighter Note, Maria will sing a wide range of songs from Pergolesi to Schubert and Schumann, from Bizet and Granados to Kurt Weill and Gershwin.

Maria has performed principal roles at the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Opera North.

She is an experienced concert artist, having sung at major venues like the Barbican and the Royal Festival Hall.

Benedict Nelson was taught by Maria Jagusz and Eric Richards at Cirencester College and is now studying with Robert Dean at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

He won the Keith Nutland award last year at the Cheltenham Festival of Music and will be performing at the Cheltenham International Festival on July 16.

Robert Dean is a former head of music at Scottish Opera and is currently professor of singing at the Guildhall, guest vocal coach at the National Opera Studio and artistic director of the world famous Philharmonia Chorus.

This concert will coincide with the release of Maria's first solo recording entitled Maria Jagusz, a collection of classic love songs.
