South Cerney chalk up two table tennis wins

SOUTH Cerney have played three matches recently in the First Division of the Cirencester Table Tennis League.

On facing Rangers twice, they chalked up handsome wins on both occasions with Steve Mollart staying unbeaten in both matches.

But their other match was against runaway leaders Friendly Boys who handed them a whitewash.

Chester B's met Cricklade and this game ended as the first draw of the season.

Andrew Jarvis recorded a maximum for Chester B's and received good support from Bruce Ind who won two, as did Colin Bendall for Cricklade.

In the meeting of Division 2's top two teams, leaders Chedworth recorded a narrow victory over Sheepscombe, thanks to an unbeaten performance from Chris Jackson.

Rebels recorded two wins against Malmesbury (who only fielded one player) and Speed to move themselves up the table.

Malmesbury were back to full strength against Late Ones and came out on top due to Stan Pagington's double.

Mike Cutts inspired Dingbats to a convincing win over Speed to consolidate their mid-table position. Results are as follows:

Division 1: Week 7, Rangers 2, South Cerney 8 (S Mollart). Week 11, Chester B's 5 (A Jarvis), Cricklade 5; South Cerney 0, Friendly Boys 10 (P Bird, K Howse, C Jefferies). Week 12, South Cerney 8 (S Mollart), Rangers 2.

Division 2: Week 11, Speed 1, Dingbats 4 (M Cutts); Sheepscombe 2, Chedworth 3 (C Jackson); Rebels 4, Malmesbury 1. Week 12, Rebels 3 (G Joshua), Speed 2; Malmesbury 3 (S Pagington), Late Ones 2.
