STOW RFC deservedly won Saturday's league game - but not by the margin that they should have considering the amount of possession and chances they enjoyed.
With the visitors starting the better and Stow apparently still half-asleep, Dorchester's impressive open side ran the ball from his own half, fending off several poor tackles to score in the corner.
This gave Stow the wake-up call and they began to take control.
First Mat Watts kicked a penalty and, after further sustained pressure, added another to give Stow a slender six points to five lead at half-time.
Dorchester had the chance to regain the advantage, but missed a straightforward penalty in front of the posts.
Even Stow were guilty of kicking away good possession when in an attacking position.
Following more pressure from the hosts, Watts kicked a drop goal which just crept over the bar.
Although Stow had the lead and seemed to be in control, their opponents were still very much in the game score-wise.
Although they did not threaten the Stow line, any mistake could so easily have turned the game on its head.
The turning point for the local side came five minutes from time.
With Stow again on the offensive but unable to find a way through, replacement centre Richard Tonge was sin binned.
When Dorchester cleared their lines, it was only as far as Stow scrum-half Dean Cooper who made a brilliant break downfield.
After beating several defenders, finished with a beautifully weighted long floating pass to winger Andy Easton who took the ball well to score.
While the conversion was missed, Stow had done enough to secure a 14-5 win that leaves them nicely placed half-way up the table.
