Jason Stevens amazing bowling figures of six wickets for seven runs in the very last over ensured that Tetbury won last weeks final of the Stroud and Swindon Building Society-sponsored Evening KO Cup.
This Cotswold District Cricket Association competition, played at Cirencester CC on Tuesday evening, saw Tetbury facing Guiting Power in a tie umpired by Malcolm Akers and John Robbins.
Tetbury batted first and reached a very good total of 134-6 in their 15 overs, thanks mainly to a hard-hitting innings of 76 from opening batsman Jason Stevens.
The Guiting Power reply was spirited, but they gradually fell behind the required run rate.
Their best efforts came from the Clarke brothers, Chris (21 runs) and Nick (captain) 40.
At the start of the final over, Guiting Power needed 29 runs, a difficult target off eight balls despite having six wickets in hand.
And Stevens, who had bowled tidily in his previous over and taken one wicket, came back to unleash what proved a deadly final over.
With the Guiting Power batsmen attempting to score boundaries, he proceeded to despatch them to the pavilion in non-stop fashion.
In other notable Tetbury performances, Andy Griffin took two wickets for 11 runs off his four overs while wicket-keeper Dave Sharpe snapped up four stumpings, one of which was off a leg-side wide.
After the game and on behalf of competition sponsors Stroud and Swindon Building Society, Cirencester branch manager Wendy Whitelam presented the trophy to Dave Sharpe, captain of the winning Tetbury team.
Awards were also presented to Nick Clarke, captain of runners-up Guiting Power, and to Jason Stevens, best batting performance in the competition (76 runs versus Guiting Power in the final) and the best bowling performance 7-10 versus Guiting Power in the final).
Phil Carter (Cirencester CC) was thanked for hosting the final and for preparing a firm and true wicket which produced some good cricket.
