Robert Cray comes to Cheltenham

ROBERT Cray, who comes to Cheltenham for the first time today, July 25, is particularly happy in England which he calls his second home.

His wife is English and he loves the sense of history and the warmth of British audiences.

Although a lot of traditional blues music is backward looking, Robert sees his band as one which is taking the blues somewhere new and exciting and draws from many other sources such as rock and roll, gospel and jazz.

He is a great admirer of Jimi Hendrix and has played with such celebrities as Eric Clapton, BB King and Tina Turner.
