Guitarist Gordon comes to Cirencester

VOTED second only to Eric Clapton in Guitar magazine's 10th anniversary poll, guitar virtuoso Gordon Giltrap returns to Brewery Arts, Cirencester tomorrow (Friday) at 8pm for one of the highlights of the season.

Gordon emerged from the 60s as a talented singer/songwriter but then changed direction and began to write purely instrumental music.

Ten years, six albums and numerous concerts later, he became an overnight success with the hit single Heartsong which was nominated for the prestigious Ivor Novello award and used as the theme tune for the BBC's Holiday Programme.

His music has been used by both commercial and BBC television, other recognisable tunes being ITV's Wish You Were Here and World Bowls.

His extensive catalogue of commissioned music for television culminated in the 1995 release of Music for the Small Screen which included a re-recording of Heartsong, featuring Brian May, Midge Ure, Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman.

The following year he was invited to perform and record for his old friend Cliff Richard in the successful musical Heathcliff.

Gordon Giltrap represents a unique British musical talent and a technique which comprises elements of all musical genres and has enabled him to compose some of the most notable acoustic guitar works of recent decades.
