Bingham actors in classic comedy

THIS year's May production by the Bingham Theatre Company sees its most ambitious project yet.

Two classic one act modern comedies - The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard and Black Comedy by Peter Shaffer - will be presented in the Bingham Hall, Cirencester from May 16-18 at 7.30pm.

Two separate casts bring the total number of local actors performing to 16, with each play also having its own director.

In the tradition of the company, these plays have never before been performed by local groups in the town.

"Imagine those famous Agatha Christie whodunits turned into comedy - with all the cliches, from murderers appearing through French windows to dead bodies concealed on stage - and you will get a flavour of what lies in store," said Trevor Allen, director of The Real Inspector Hound.

"Shaffer's play also mocks the stock English period drama character - from the crusty old colonel to the dumb blonde - with the action taking place in darkness on a brightly lit stage," said Philip Cook who directs Black Comedy.
