Ghostly goings-on in Tetbury

MEMBERS of Tetbury's Dolphin Dramatic Society have slightly altered the actors' traditional optimistic battle cry.

For them it will be a case of "It will be all fright on the night" when they stage Noel Coward's classic, Blithe Spirit, at the Dolphin Hall beginning April 18 and running until Saturday, April 20.

The Dophins, who have been treading the boards in Tetbury for the last 30 years, felt that Coward's stylish comedy of ghostly goings-on would provide the perfect fillip to the local community after the anguish of last year's foot and mouth disaster.

This will be the group's second staging of the play, the first being during the 1970s.

But Blithe Spirit is such a firm favourite that it has been staged in the West End, in repertory and in just about every village hall in the land.

It has also been televised and has been famously filmed, starring Rex Harrison, Kay Kendall and Margaret Rutherford.

Even those who express little interest in the theatre may well be familiar with the ghostly Elvira and the deliciously eccentric medium, Madame Arcati.

The Dolphins are confident of providing plenty of frights and laughs when they bring Blithe Spirit to the Dolphin Hall.
