A COLLECTION of rare Marylyn Monroe photographs, entitled Timeless Beauty, will on show for the first time in Gloucestershire at the Wheatsheaf Inn, Northleach from Friday to Sunday, April 19-21.
These compelling pictures, mostly in black and white, have been brought over from the Andrew Weiss Gallery in Los Angeles by Jonathan Poole of Compton Cassey Gallery, near Cheltenham and are at present on a European tour. They span the career of Marilyn, highlighting three different phases with signed works and prints.
The exhibition includes photographs from the infamous Red Velvet series by Tom Kelly in 1949 and rare prints from the famous "Last Sitting" series by legendary fashion photographer Bert Stern. Also included are original works by George Barris, Lazlo Willinger and Milton Green.
Many images have not been viewed by the public for over a generation and some have never been seen before, such as Kashio Aoki's photos of Marilyn and Joe DiMaggio.
The exhibition is open on Friday, April 19 from 6-9pm and from 12 noon to 11pm on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21.
