Competition - design a poster

CALLING all budding young artists! The Standard is offering you the chance to have your work seen in public - not just in one gallery, but all over the Cotswolds!

We want you to design us a poster image for the Cotswold Show and Country Fair, an annual event held at Cirencester Park.

The piece of art - which can be in any medium - must be produced on an A4 piece of paper. There is no need to incorporate any words into your design (title, date, etc), as these will be superimposed onto the winning entry.

The theme of the poster is What the Countryside Means to Me.

Entrants will be divided into two age ranges for judging - under twelves and 12-18. The Standard will be publishing some of the best entries after the competition has been judged.

The winner of each category will receive free family tickets to the event and the overall winner will get to see their design on posters across Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, watch the posters roll of the press and celebrate their success at the event in the hospitality tent.

The entries will be judged by Standard editor Peter Davison and Brian Channon, creative director of CMC Media, Cirencester, which is handling the promotion of the event.

To be in with a chance of winning, send your poster design to Cotswold Show and Country Fair Competition, Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard, 74 Dyer Street, Cirencester, GL7 2PW to arrive no later than first post on Monday, April 22 - which give you the Easter Holidays to get creative!

Please remember to put your name, address, telephone number and the name of your school (if applicable) on the back of your entry. Please also attach a written explanation of what your picture shows (no more than 30 words) and why you chose that image for your poster.

The Cotswold Show and Country Fair will be held at Cirencester Park on July 6 and 7, 2002.
