THE Blues Brothers, the smash-hit musical that has played to audiences of over five million people since 1991, is coming to the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham, from March 25-30, for the very last time.
The only official musical exclusively sanctioned by the John Belushi estate, the show brings Jake and Elwood Blues together live on stage, with their six piece band, and their famous backing singers, The Bluettes.
With hits like Soul Man, Everybody Needs Somebody, Jailhouse Rock, Shake A Tail Feather and Respect, the pair are guaranteed to have audiences dancing in the aisles.
In this, their final tour, The Blues Brothers will be joined on stage by Antonio Fargas - Huggy Bear from the 1970s television classic Starski and Hutch.
Jake and Elwood Blues made their small-screen debut in 1978 on Saturday Night Live. The inventions of John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd, who played the pair, they soon rocketed to stardom, with their own movie, The Blues Brothers, being made later that year. Their first album, A Briefcase of Blues, sold more than 2.8 million copies.
The official tribute to The Blues Brothers was first staged as a one-off performance, but proved so popular that it was immediately booked for a West End run. It has now played four West End seasons and has toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe.
Tickets from the box office on 01242 572573.
