AFTER securing third place at last year's Crufts, golden retriever Gaina went on to come top in this year's competition in the Gamekeepers class.
Gaina, whose pedigree title is Purbarn Come All Over Again, is jointly owned by gamekeeper Richard Mace, of Poulton Fields Farm near Cirencester, and his fiancee Jenny Frankland-Burton.
The dog won the Any Other Variety section in the Gamekeepers class.
Mr Mace, who handled Gaina in Crufts 2002, said: "It was a bit nerve racking. Just to go into that big ring was something else. Last year she came third so I'm really pleased.
"I've got a great big trophy now. She's brilliant and I use her a lot."
He said he would be entering Gaina in next year's Crufts along with one of her puppies. The couple own 19 dogs, four of which have qualified for Crufts for life.
Gaina's grandfather was a full champion at the event.
