Police crack down on antisocial behaviour.

NORTH Cotswold police are stepping up their patrols on problem housing estates at Moreton-in-Marsh.

Residents in Tinker's Close, Fosse Way Avenue, Croft Holme and other areas troubled by anti-social behaviour will see more police on foot and in cars during the coming weeks.

Officers will liaise with communities, Cotswold District Council and housing associations during this campaign to promote safer housing estates.

Gloucestershire Constabulary's new mobile police station will be on hand for residents in isolated areas having difficulties visiting their local station.

Acting Inspector Ian Phillips, of Stow-on-the-Wold Police Station, said: "The north Cotswolds remains one of the safest areas in the country in which to live and the overwhelming majority of the people living here are law abiding.

"Unfortunately, one or two individuals acting in an anti-social manner can make things very unpleasant for their local communities.

"Our aim is to support these communities and to restrict this type of anti-social behaviour."

Anyone interested in starting a Neighbourhood Watch scheme, of the sort that will play an important role in the campaign, can telephone Andy Fogden, at Stow station, for details on 01242 276607.
