Folk star Cara to play Cheltenham

Irish singer Cara Dillon comes to Cheltenham Town Hall on Monday, March 11, as part of a countrywide tour which coincides with the launch of her new album entitled simply 'Cara Dillon' and produced by Rough Trade Records.

Aged only 14, Cara won the All Ireland Traditional Singing Trophy. She then toured both at home and abroad with the young Irish Band Oiga and later joined the folk super-group Equation whom she helped to secure a major recording contract with Warner Music.

After a year she left the band, together with Sam Lakeman, one of its founding members, and since then they have worked together to develop a partnership of unusual musical prowess.

Tickets from the Town Hall box office on 01242 227979.
