SHELLEY the guide dog has bid farewell to patients and staff in the eye outpatients clinic at Cirencester Hospital.
Her owner, Barbara Woodbridge, has been a volunteer working for Gloucestershire County Association for the Blind in the clinic over the last five years and is now taking a well earned retirement.
Barbara's own experience of sight loss has made her an invaluable source of advice and information to patients over the years.
Pat Barlow, co-ordinator of GCAB's Hospital Information Service, said: "Barbara and Shelley have become a popular feature of the clinic and a great inspiration to others with low vision. We have been so lucky to have had them as volunteers for five years and wish them a happy retirement."
Chairman of GCAB, Muriel Smith, also a Cirencester resident, presented Barbara with a bouquet of flowers and Shelley a large bone-shaped biscuit as a gesture of thanks.
