THE Cirencester and District Youth Football League results are as follows: U14s League: Liden Community 2, Cricklade 2; Wroughton 1, Swindon Eagles 3.
Wroughton U14s entertained Swindon Eagles at Maunsell Way in a dress rehearsal for next weekend's cup semi-final.
Swindon Eagles started quickly with two early chances that were well saved by the Wroughton keeper, before the home side took the lead when Gary Bromwich finished off a neat move putting the vall beyond the reach of the Eagles keeper.
They then controlled the game until a long ball from the Eagles defence found Tim Gleed clear on goal, who fired in an unstoppable shot into the far corner. The game was then even until half time.
The second half was just as close with both sides having plenty of the ball. However it was the Eagles who had the better of the chances and finally claimed all three points thanks to a good solo effort from Craig Dixon and ten minutes from time Gleed notched up his second and Eagles third when he managed to slot home after a fortunate rebound.
Wroughton had a couple of first team players missing, but gave a good account of themselves and will no doubt be up for the cup challenge this coming Sunday.
