UPDATE: Malmesbury motorbike crash victim named

A MALMESBURY man who died this morning after being hit by a motorbike has been named as Gordon John Woodward.

The 68-year-old was killed instantly in the crash as he walked across the A429 near to Blicks Hill at 8.25am today.

The male biker, from Corsham, was taken by air ambulance to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with serious head injuries. The man, who is in his 50s, is now believed to be in a stable condition.

The families of the pedestrian and biker have been informed by police and investigations are ongoing.

The A429 was closed off between Burton Hill roundabout and the BP garage following the collision for more than four hours. The road has since been reopened.
