CIRENCESTER TOWN striker Nat Jarvis’s Caribbean Cup odyssey will continue next month after his national side Antigua & Barbuda qualified for the finals in Jamaica.

Jarvis, whose goals helped Antigua through the previous qualifying round, made the starting line-up in the Group Seven decider against the hosts Trinidad & Tobago.

Although Trinidad edged the clash 1-0 through a first half goal from Kevin Molino, Antigua qualified on goal difference as runners-up having beaten St Lucia 1-0 and drawn with the Dominican Republic.

Trinidad and Antigua join Haiti, French Guiana, Martinique, Curacao, defending champions Cuba and hosts Jamaica in the last eight when the tournament comes to a conclusion from November 10-17.

Jarvis could therefore be absent for a further four Evo-Stik League Southern Premier matches against Dunstable, Poole, Frome and Slough.

Jarvis flew back into the country on Tuesday and will go straight back into eighth-placed Ciren Town’s matchday squad for the visit of second-placed St Neots Town on Saturday.

But whether manager Brian Hughes makes any changes to the side which beat Truro City 4-1 on Saturday remains to be seen.

Eighteen-year-old Bobbie Dale grabbed a goal and an assist on his first start since joining on a month’s loan from Cheltenham Town as a temporary replacement for Jarvis. Strikers Ed Williams (2) and Aidan Bennett were also on the score sheet.

Hughes said of the Truro win: “We were completely in control from the moment we equalised early in the second half.

“They had eight lads over 6ft and in the second half we were much more mobile and dragged them around.

“I was told Bobbie (Dale) was a finisher and so it proved. He’s not going to knock defenders about like Nat but he showed good movement and touch, took his goal well and set up another for Ed.”
