Cirencester quickly rattled off three wins. Clive Bennett and Tony Greatorex won two up; Gordon Stone and Ken Haines, making his first appearance for the seniors, won comfortably 4&2 and Roger Dodd and Mike Helyer held on to win 1 up.

After a solitary loss, the tie was wrapped up when Mike Staples and John Pugh took their match by 5&4 and although Gerry Bruton and Bob Allen could only halve their match, John King and John Morris polished things off with a resounding 6&4 victory.
